The book with the tutorials is great, and the idea of the separate paper with the outlines is nice. But the paper quality is terrible. It can’t handle all the layers of water. It already starts pilling and buckling up at the second layer. So my advice is to use the outlines to trace it on quality paper first and do the painting on that paper. Paper in the mixing notebook seems similar, but there it’s ok since you don’t use that many layers. It’s a nice book to have for future reference as well. Still figuring out a bit how to use it best. Everything is really nicely packaged, like a present. I bought it some time ago and only now started working with it. Happy with my purchase.
Hi Sylvia, thank you for your detailed feedback! We're glad you enjoy the tutorials and find the packaging lovely. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful review and for including a photo of your beautiful cherries!
I also wanted to share a little tip about the paper. The outlines are printed on 300gsm watercolor paper (same as I have in the big sketchbook with refills and paper pad I sell), which is designed to handle multiple layers of watercolor beautifully. One of the most important things when working with layers is to allow each layer to dry completely before applying the next one. Painting over a layer that is still damp, especially with repeated brushstrokes, can disturb the paper surface and cause pilling - this will happen to any paper.
Water control and drying time make such a difference in watercolor painting. I hope this little tip helps you enjoy the paper even more as you continue exploring the projects!

Thank you again for your kind words about the workbook and its presentation. Wishing you many beautiful painting moments ahead!
With love,
Kristine
